Wood information
We have chosen larch wood for the production of LoggyLand
because it is the most durable European softwood.
We source our European larch wood exclusively from sustainable forestry.
Larch wood is a medium-hard wood and is characterized by its high stability and low sensitivity to pressure.
Conventional construction timbers such as pine and spruce do not offer you these advantages.
In addition, we only use palisades with a diameter of 10 cm or 12 cm in order to guarantee the stability of our LoggyLand playground sets. (Playgrounds for private use are usually made from construction timber with a diameter of 8 cm).
Outdoor wooden playgrounds often have to be impregnated and treated at great expense and often with harmful effects on health.
Thanks to its high resin content, LoggyLand larch wood provides natural self-protection and is highly resistant to fungi, insect infestation and the effects of the weather, even without chemical treatment.
Thanks to this high-quality wood, LoggyLand offers you the opportunity to install an outdoor playscape that is completely free from harmful wood preservatives.
If you prefer glazed wood, we can also supply you with glazed wood for an additional charge. Of course, we only use environmentally friendly glaze that complies with EU standard DIN 71.3 and DIN 53 160 (safe for children's toys and saliva- and perspiration-resistant glaze).
You can also purchase this stain in various colors in our store. Thanks to the even fiber structure of the wood, the stain can be applied without pre-treatment.
Wood is a living building material as it is a purely natural product, which means that it continues to work even after processing.
LoggyLand only uses dry wood. Nevertheless, minor cracks can form due to weathering, but these do not affect stability in any way. The resulting cracks change and disappear or reappear depending on the season.
These changes are natural processes that do not represent a safety risk. If your LoggyLand product is left untreated outdoors for some time, the appearance of the wood will also change. The larch wood makes this change its own because it is known for its typical silvery, shiny patina.
